Hey, guys! All I got for you today is a quick rant(seriously, I ramble…beware.) on school, encumbered with gifs. Enjoy. π
Summer break is a foreign phrase at my house. We may have a short break here or there, but I don’t think we have a clean no-school summer. I, for one, am not opposed to our idea of summer. I quite enjoy doing just a little bit of school- not too much, but something to keep me from getting too bored.
This summer, I was finishing subjects from my sophomore year and trying to get ahead in other subjects for this coming school year. It wasn’t as restful and free as others may expect from a high-schooler’s summer, but it wasn’t at all bad to me.
Then something happened to disturb the precious lenience.
School started this week.
And you know what that means?
HOME-SCHOOLERS GET THE WORLD BACK! *cheers*
Ha ha ha!…uhm, er–
No, that’s not what that means, silly… for the most part.
When school starts, life gets hectic. Mornings we’re buzzing around all over each other- all at once, just for food- school hours are designed for sleeping all of a sudden, and the rest of the day consists of household duties, running errands, and Pinterest– *cough* I mean, cleaning house. (Right.)
And get this. My siblings and I? We’re talking about one college kid, two high-school juniors, one 2nd grader, and the rest(4 ditzy girls) under 1st grade.Β That’s like juggling live baby giraffes, and eating apple pie through your ear, while using hydrogen as a fork, at the same time.
Okay. Maybe not that bad, but you get the idea. It’s not easy and it’s not all the time fun.
({Special shout-out to my mom, and all home-school moms} I have no idea how you stay sane with all that underfoot. Maybe I’m just an OCD control freak, but that is a lot. Thank you for putting up with us crazies, even though you could’ve left us in a basket on a stranger’s doorstep. It means a lot. π )
Anyways.
One good thing about school is how much more organized of a schedule we develop.
The fact that I don’t have to sit around the house with no order in life is glorious. I love that I have to fight to find time to do things! Makes me think, plan, prioritize, and strategically time how long it takes to finish school, do my chores, and pour water into a glass.
My life needs to be running on a strict timetable, and I will accomplish that by the end of this week.
Fine. Maybe not.
But wait! There’s another thing that I love about the school year…
PRETTY SCHOOL SUPPLIES!
*squeals*
I am a sucker for new pens, pencils, paper- and if you haven’t noticed, “p” words. π Here’s a picture of my li’l nook:
*happy sigh* Lovely, isn’t it? All the colors, the variety, ahhh! I fall in love every time I look at them. π
Well, I gotta be off now. Y’know -*wink wink*- to clean the house.
Hope you enjoyed this rambling post.
Jazzy xoxo
P.S.
Check out this little guy. He just couldn’t help but come calling on me while I was in the middle of History. After 5 minutes of him crawling on the window sill, I decided to do something that would tragically end our blooming friendship…
I started opening and closing the blinds. Apparently he didn’t want me that bad, because he quickly ran away. ;P
The drama of newly-born-but-soon-after-demolished love.
Happy Thursday, thanks for reading!
Oh my goodness! That’s a crazy big family (and I thought that my family was big with the four siblings I have). I love your school supplies (Can I steal it?)!

“Homeschoolers get the world back!” HAHAHAH YES! No more noisy kids at the library, the grocery store etc etc. π Now don’t get me wrong, I love kids! I really do! But it IS nice when they are all in school. π The one time I have been to an amusement park, we intentionally waited to go until September so there wouldn’t be many people there. π
My family usually does school through the summer too, but this summer was crazy and it kinda fell by the wayside . . . oops. I missed it though. It’s like I can’t function without doing school every morning.
Haha, you sound so much like me! I love school, and organization, and perfection, and schedules . . . π

LOL! x) That’s EXACTLY what my family does too! We’ve been waiting to go to the beach all summer. xP
Hehehe! Great minds think alike, right? π

Oooh, the beach! I could live at the beach! We have been so blessed by our grandparents owning a cottage on Lake Michigan. We are a bit spoiled, it is like torture whenever we go to a public beach. (which is just about never. π )

Oh I used to homeschool!! flails It was the BEST although we did take off a month in summer, which was great, because I quite like being “bored”. I mean, not REALLY bored, but when you have nothing to do is sometimes when you are the most creative I think!π But I also loved homeschool for the opportunity to get ahead. That is so awesome. heheh.
I loved this post! AND YAY FOR STATIONARY.

Oh my goodness yes. I enjoy the freedom of summer (it was only semi freedom this year. I’m behind in math (much) so geometry! Yay) but I also really enjoy structured life and schedule.
“Thatβs like juggling live baby giraffes, and eating apple pie through your ear, while using hydrogen as a fork, at the same time.” << AND THIS. I know a homeschool family that literally (almost) looks like this. XD We’re a little more tame, being there only three of us in my home. π
I also love all your pretty school supplies… new pens and papers and pencils make me so happy.
Glad to have stumbled upon your blog!

Hahaha! I guess that makes sense. For me, I always get the best ideas when I’m already doing something more important… so then I always end up forgetting it by the time I get to be able to think more on it. Lol x)

Thanks! I still haven’t even gone near a pool and summer is practically over.
My family doesn’t really like the pool..It’s odd.

Oh, well then! That’s super nice. And yes, it is… all the germs and bleh out there is enough to drive me out of my wits. I’m so glad my family doesn’t really care for the beach that much. ;P

Jazzy,
Your blog is so fun! I love all your crazy, creative descriptions of home-school life. ;P School is great, but I do so want you to work on more stories for us people over at Noble Novels!!! You write
sooo well!!
And yes, I insanely love school supplies too. β€ I actually end up collecting it year-round somehow…lol
Recently I dug out a super cute composition book my sibs gave me forever-ago and started a new story! I had saved it for some special writing project like this, and I love running my fingers over the flowered cover each time I get it out to write. Idk…I might be just a little weird. π #nerdsistersforever π

Aww, thanks Anna! No, you’re totally not weird. There are just those notebooks where you feel something special about them. My parents got me a legit brown leather journal for Christmas a few years ago, and I still haven’t written in it. Saving it for a big time in my life. π So, no! you’re not alone. xD I’ve been trying to get time to write, but so far I’ve only been able to plan/outline a novel I’m brainstorming on. And now with school starting… yikes, girl. But we’ll see! Thanks for commenting!!!

Lol oh good! I’m glad I am not the only journal drooler!!!! π€
And yikes, leather journals are awesome!! How are you EVER gonna decide when to use it?! π This flowered composition book is funny how it goes so perfectly with the story (I usually just use spiral bound notebooks) that I had to write the story in it regardless of bad handwriting! π See, the story is called something like “Country Girl or Girlish Girl” (I’m terrible at finding their titles beforehand so it’s probably temporary) and is based off some of my experiences moving from the country to the city. π So a flowery cover is perfect. π
Brainstorming a novel is good!! πKeep going!! I can’t wait to hear what it’s about!
Long live pencils,
-Anna
